Everywhere I look concerning the upcoming seasons the media is already reporting bad weather as fall approaches. But I want to shift your focus towards the good this season can bring us. We typically look at fall as cozy and chill season, but it can also be an excellent season to energize spiritually and physically while also relaxing. Here are some ways to relax and energize this fall.
Take your mat outside
The weather is fine my dear! Nothing is more pleasant to my nose than the smell of earth and trees during the early parts of fall here in Kentucky. The air is so clear and thin clear with just the amount of chill. Perfect for yoga and a mindfulness session. As a Christian many may raise their brows at my encouragement of yoga and mindfulness. But have discernment and look in your Bible and find every time the Lord tells you to breathe and stay present. I don't practice yoga in the traditional sense, I combine it with prayer and connecting to the Holy Spirit.
Nature walk and bring It home with you
Many homeschooling families like ours love to take their children on nature walks. But have you ever done it for yourself? This is the best time to take a moment to yourself especially if you're a busy mom. Don't just go on a walk, take the time to touch the trees, inspect a new plant and take some of the Earth home with you. My favorite thing to do is collect pinecones and pine needles, bring them home to boil them on the stove to create a fresh peaceful smell throughout the entire home.
Read a historical novel
Fall days can make you sleepy and sloth like which hey, after a long summer I'm about it! But if you want to take time to stimulate your brain waves but relax at the same time, try reading a historical novel. Time period novels are my favorite way to escape and remind myself how of good I've got it but also learn new ways to implement the past into my present. I'm learning while on an adventure and it's a great way to energize me for the next task.
Cruise in your favorite park
For all my bike lovers out there, grab a jacket and pedal to your favorite nearby park or road for those in the country. As I have aged, I forget sometimes what it's like to just roam like I did when I was a child and how amazing it was to do so. One of my favorite ways to roam is cruise around on my bike. I have kept a bike since I was a child all the way into my adulthood for this reason. A bike is a great for exercise but also can be relaxing to just way to just enjoy the nature around you.
Hopefully these suggestions will give you some ideas on what you can do to relax but energize at the same time. I hope you enjoy your fall season!
